Welcome to Little Blue Tulip. Look around, get in touch & let us know what you think.

Little Blue Tulip began on a whim & a fanciful thought four years ago as the first paid shoot under the Blue Tulip umbrella. It began in response to a question....

The question was - Could I reinterpret something that has been done to death & usually with little or no imagination ? Could I do it in a way that would completely turn an entire genre of photography on it's head? And most intriguing of all, could I do this in a creatively satisfying manner & keep my integrity ?

  • Our Philosophy

Our style of capture reflects our philosophy on children & the Early Years Learning Framework. We believe children deserve to be treated with the same dignity & respect you would give to an adult. It is with this in mind that we work the way we do & are able achieve the results that we do.

Children don't need to be dressed up in silly clothing, told to smile or have things waved at them. With a little bit of time & practised observation they will engage & begin to interact with us on their own level. This is what we are looking for.

It is these small windows into their personalities & to the real person, developing before your eyes, that you will recognise & you will love.

  • What people are saying……..

""Before looking at the proofs today, I really wasn't expecting much being daycare pics but OMG! They are absolutely gorgeous and you captured their personalities so well. Thanks so much and we can't wait to get them""

    — Erica Bindley, Tintenbar

"As I scrolled through the photos of my boys at their daycare shoot, I was hoping that I was going to see that one shot, the shot that showed the essence of who they really are - all parents want that. I feel one can only really see that essence in someones eyes, and with a child, it's usually only the parents that are privileged enough to see through that window. Somehow, without knowing them, you captured this in my sons - gratitude from my heart to yours."

    — Stephanie Clifford Hosking, Bangalow

"I would just like to thank you for the refreshing photos you took. I was expecting the same old boring photos and was pleasantly surprised when I received the terrific proofs which enticed me to go online. The great quality and candid nature of the photos has convinced me to purchase the USB stick when originally I was only purchasing one group image."

    — Clare Alley, Alstonville
This video is probably the best way to understand who we are & how we work. You can read more about it here but for now enjoy.

It is important to understand that we operate in your daycare/early childhood education centre/preschool in a way that will not disrupt your programming or the children’s day to day routine. We always have & will photograph all of your children individually, unless there is a special need not to do so. We will also photograph any siblings that attend concurrently.

Often the interactions between brothers & sisters & brothers & brothers are the purest, most honest & most beautiful in the whole human spectrum.

“We are not only our brother’s keeper……in countless large & small ways we are our brothers maker”
-Bonaro Overstreet

We are not aiming to become the norm, as far as early childhood photographers go, but would rather remain the exception, distinguished by what makes our work wonderful.
If you think your families would love their children photographed honestly & beautifully then pick up the phone & call or fill in the contact form. We have very limited availability in the second half of the calendar year.

Today was a good day......

Give us a smile, Darcy…….!

Darcy wasn't having a bar of it. No way. Tell your story walking & take your camera with you. Of course the real Darcy stood up & everything was good...........do you think I helped ? This was taken by the uber apprentice,  Zac Macleod. Or, as he is increasingly being referred to as.......- " The Future".
